hi. this is an about page apparently. i’d rather let my evolving body of work speak for itself, but since all wordpress blogs have this about page thing going, i might as well do it.
my first camera was an automatic that used 110 format film. (those of you who remember 110 film now know roughly how old i am. haha!) then in grade school (sometime around Grade Six i believe.), i joined the photography club. and that was that. i got my first SLR, a Canon FTb, when i was around 12. as you can see, i still shoot Canon. hehe.
i was away from photography for a long time though, and it was only last year that i’ve come to rediscover the world through a photographer’s eye. i hope you don’t mind taking that journey with me. a celebration of the myriad aspects of life… through light.
merci.

Well, as you can see, things have changed quite a bit. Alright, a lot. It’s not just because i’m shooting with a Nikon right now. I’ve always wondered about Nikon. I remembered that I had shot with them once, as one of the cameras in the school newspaper back in high school that they used to lend out to staff photographers was a Nikon FE. Back in the film days however, we all thought Nikon was the province of the professional, hence you only see them in newsrooms and around the necks of fashion photographers and photojournalists.
Why did I switch? Practicality first of all. One of the first things I learned from photo class is that one of the factors surrounding the choice of camera system one should get (and i’m not kidding about this) is how many of your friends shoot on it. It would be much easier for example, to switch out lenses and other accessories if you know the people around you are on the same system. A lot of the people around me—my two photography teachers, a lot of my colleagues, and a really good friend, are all Nikon shooters…. but really, I just like the sound a Nikon makes when it shoots. (hehehe!)
As for the other areas of my life? I think things are falling into place. Finally. Anyway, enjoy the photos. I hope to be able to bring more of them to you. And once again…
